After reviewing the,report, I have a
few comments:
1. Please include the scaled facility map and the surveyor's report in the first quarterly monitoring
report.
2. The report compares metal concentrations in the soils to "federal Maximum Contaminant Levels
(MCL)". There is no basis for this comparison, as MCLs are set for contaminants in water, not
for soil. Instead, the metals should be compared to site specific designated levels. I did this,
and found that the concentrations appear-excessive for several of the metals., Therefore, during
the next quarterly monitoring event, please also analyze the groundwater from well CW-02 for
metals by the ICAP procedure.
I understand that the wells were first sampled in November, so the next.quarterly monitoring event
is to take place in February. The November report of results should be submitted to me by the end
of this month, so that I have time to review and comment before the February samples are collected. :
I look forward to receiving the November report of results. If you have.any, questions, I can be
reached at (916) 255-3104.
WENDY WYELS
Agricultural Unit
cc: Mr. Jack Holm, Cargill, Stockton
Ms. Charlene Wall, Port of Stockton, Stockton:
Mr. Mike Infurna, San Joaquin County Public Health, Stockton
Mr. John Rapp, Sierra Pacific Groundwater Consultants, El Dorado Hills
