Power to the facility
will be turned-off, tagged, and locked-out. Water mains should be shut off during this phase of work.
The work area will be posted and cordoned to prevent non-essential persons from entering the
building during demolition.
The contractor will remove, segregate, load, and transport all materials removed during the
demolition work to a permitted salvage or landfill facility. All material from the demolition work,
debris, liquids, drums, and other waste will be removed from the site. The contractor will provide
copies of all daily work logs, backup invoices, and any other documentation related to the conduct
of the work to Cargill.
Dust control measures will be taken to suppress fugitive dust should dust become visible and
persistent. The job supervisor will monitor the work site as work progresses to assure that workers
are not exposed to asbestos, fuels, reagents, and other hazardous materials.
3.4 Demolition and Removal of Tanks, Pipes, Fittings and Ancillary Equipment
The contractor will demolish and remove ASTs, pipes, fittings, and ancillary equipment in accordance
with instructions from Cargill. Fittings, piping, and tanks that will be salvaged have been painted
bright orange. In addition, the boiler and associated piping will be removed from the cinder block
boiler shed for re-use.
The contractor will obtain and maintain all necessary County and State permits to conduct this phase
of the work.
