SENT BY 9163622318-Sacra. , CA : 8-16-98 : 3 42PNI ;MIAIN INTERNATIONAL- 3 WORK DESCRIPTION-RADIAN CPT WORK NEAR SHARPE ARMY DEPOT A total of 22 cone penetrometer lost(CPT)locations will be pushed within a 112-to 1-mile radius around the MC-Sharpe facility to measure depth to groundwater.The locations of the CPT borings will be placed within the right-of-way of existing roads around the DDJC-Sharpe facility.These locations fall within either the San Joaquin County or City of Lathrop jurisdictions.These locations are shown on Figure 2-l.Groundwater elevation and surface elevation data will be collected from these CPT locations. Survey maps at the offices of the County of San Joaquin and assessors maps at Lathrop Public Works Engineering were reviewed to determine the width of right-of-ways along the roads where CPT measurements will be taken, Both CPT and temporary piezometers will be used to measure depth to groundwater.CPT involves the use of a rigid pole that is pushed into the ground by a CPT vehicle.A transducer at the end of the pole is used to measure the point at which groundwater is detected.The only change to the ground created by this procedure is a small diameter hole approximately 2 inches in diameter.The temporary piezometers(314- inch diameter)will be installed to confirm the CPT measurements,and will be removed at the end of the field work,The desired schedule for this work is during the period 19-26 August, 1998. Bath CPT holes and temporary piezometer holes will be grouted over after the measurements are taken. No wells or tubes will be installed into the ground. Underground Services Alert(USA)has been contacted for utilities clearance.Radian provided descriptions of the 22 CPT locations- Traffic control will be performed in accordance with the procedures detailed in the additional attachment provided. wkdesc-2dm 1 13 Augmt 199A
