Box 960001
Stockton, CA 95296-0250
FINAL CLOSURE REPORT FOR UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVA4 DDRW
SHARPE FACILITY, STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
We have reviewed the Final Closure Report for eleven underground storage tank (UST), prepared by
PetroCon, Inc. for DDRW Sharpe, received 22 July 1994. The purpose of the Closure Report is to
provide the Board with sufficient information to make a dertermination if any of the site require
additional action. The closure reports indicate that soil contamination remains at six sites. We
request an investigation be conducted to define the nature and extent of soil and ground water
contamination at these sites. Five sites: 3, 10, 25/74, 58, and 61 may be considered closed.
Work Plans must be prepared for the following tank sites: 5, 12, 15, 17, 18-18A, and 34. The
objective of these Work Plans should be to accurately delineate the lateral and vertical extent of soil
and ground water contamination associated with each of the tank sites. Petroleum hydrocarbons, as
diesel must be defined to non-detectable levels. The Work Plans for further investigation of tanks 5,
12, 15, 17, 18-18A and 34 are to include:
1. A map showing the location of these tanks relative to the base as a whole and the
monitoring well network presently existing at the Sharpe facility.
2. Proposed soil borings and monitoring well installations, with locations, sampling
depths, and laboratory analysis. Existing monitoring wells may be utilized in this
evaluation, if appropriately located.
The Army should submit a Work Plan addressing the above comments with a schedule for completion
of individual tasks by 15 November 1994. Upon approval of the Work Plan, work can begin.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 255-3047.
t -305►
(RI CONDON
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Mr. Marlon Mezquita, U.
