Soil samples will also be collected at 0.5 to 1 foot bgs from the twenty-five (25) borings
located in the tank farm area to assess lead in soils related to historical surface coating
maintenance of the former ASTs. The twenty-five (25) soil samples will be analyzed for
total lead.
3.2 Additional Site Groundwater Investigation
Previous assessments have focused on assessing the distribution of contaminants beneath
the combined STTC foot print and their potential impacts to regional groundwater use.
Characterization of groundwater quality data from the B, C, and D Zone water-bearing
units beneath the former Time Oil terminal is very limited. Additional characterization of
groundwater contaminant distribution in the intermediate and deep water-bearing zones at
the former Time Oil terminal is required to understand the impacts from historical
releases and their potential impact to human health.
To characterize contaminant distribution in the intermediate and deep water-bearing
zones beneath the former Time Oil terminal sixteen (16) hollow-stem auger soil borings
will be advanced for the installation of monitoring wells(see Figure 3). Six(6)wells will
be constructed in the B Zone, seven (7)wells will be constructed in the C Zone, and three
(3) wells will constructed in the D Zone. The wells will be installed near existing well
TO/R-2R (B, C, and D Zone wells), west of Buckeye well AR/MW-5A (B and C Zone
wells), west of Buckeye well AR/MW-8A (B and C Zone wells),, near existing well
TO/R-5R (B, C, and D Zone wells), near existing well TO/R-3R (B and C Zone wells),
near existing well TO/WC-2B (C Zone well), and south and east of existing well
TONT-2R(B, C, and D Zone wells).
Lithologic samples will be continuously collected from the C Zone wells along the east
side of the site, the C Zone well near existing wells TO/R-3R and TO/WC-2B, the
D Zone wells near TO/R-2R and TO/R-5R, and the D Zone well east of TONT-2R. Soil
samples will be collected at 2.5 and 5 feet bgs, and 0.5 to 1 feet above the water table
(7.5 to 10 feet bgs) from the seven (7) borings listed above and, submitted for laboratory
analyses.
All groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX, ethanol, PARS, and
oxygenates MTBE, TBA, DIPE, TAME, and TBEE. All soil samples will be analyzed
for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX, and oxygenates MTBE, TBA, DIPE, TAME, and TBEE. Soil
samples with reported TPH-d concentrations over 1,000 mg/kg) will also be analyzed for
PAHs. Soil samples will also be collected at 0.5 to 1 foot bgs from the three (3) borings
located in the tank farm area to assess lead in soils related to historical surface coating
maintenance of the former ASTs. The three (3) soil samples will be analyzed for total
lead.
Site Characterization Work Plan,Final, May 18,2012
1007-012.002 3-2
