San Joaquin County EHD <br /> December 7, 2005 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> Mr. Van Spronsen indicated that he did not find the distribution box when the septic tank was <br /> removed. <br /> A Ground Zero field technician collected six soil samples on April 8, 2005. Mr. Michael Infurna of <br /> EHD conducted a site inspection to witness sampling activities. Sample locations were selected by <br /> Ground Zero staff after conferring with Mr. Infurna. A total of six soil samples were collected at the <br /> following locations: <br /> 1. Sample T1-7 was collected at a location identified as the former location of the septic tank. The <br /> sample was collected at a depth approximately 7 feet below the ground surface (bgs), <br /> approximately 6 inches below the bottom of the former septic tank, according to Mr. David Van <br /> Spronsen, who removed the septic tank. According to Mr. Van Spronsen, the septic tank was <br /> buried approximately 12-18 inches below the ground surface. The septic tank, which remains <br /> on site but is broken into several pieces,was measured to be approximately 5.5 feet in height. <br /> 2. Sample D1-6.5 was collected at the approximate location of the distribution box to the two <br /> leach lines. The location of the distribution box was estimated based upon the orientation of the <br /> two leach lines. The location was selected by tracing each leach line back toward the septic <br /> tank and selecting the apparent point of intersection of the two leach lines. Sample D1-6.5 was <br /> collected at approximately 6.5 feet bgs. <br /> 3. Sample LL1-3 was collected beneath the approximate mid-point of the westernmost leach line, <br /> at a depth of approximately 3 feet bgs. <br /> 4. Sample P1-3 was collected beneath the end of the westernmost leach line, at a depth of <br /> approximately 3 feet bgs. <br /> 5. Sample LL2-3 was collected beneath the approximate mid-point of the easternmost leach line, <br /> at a depth of approximately 3 feet bgs. <br /> 6. Sample P24 was collected beneath the end of the easternmost leach line, at a depth of <br /> approximately 4 feet bgs. <br /> Samples were collected by driving a six-inch clean brass tube into the soil after removing <br /> approximately 3 inches of surface soil to expose native, undisturbed soil. The samples were <br /> immediately capped, labeled, and temporarily stored in an ice chest cooled to approximately 4° <br /> C. The samples were delivered under chain of custody protocol to Argon Laboratories (FLAP <br /> No. 2359) for analysis. The sample locations are shown on a site sketch included as Figure 2. <br /> Soil samples were analyzed for the presence of TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, and VOCs using appropriate <br /> EPA approved laboratory methods. In addition, soil samples were analyzed for Semi-volatile <br /> G:\GROLJNDZE\Berberian\sum—closure.doc <br />
