A minor number of specialized supervisory personnel
would come from other areas. During the period of construction, approxi-
mately 10 months, the average number of craft workers is estimated at 30.
This number includes subcontract personnel .
Major construction work would fall into the following categories:
• Grading,
• Civil , including paving, foundations, and concrete work,
• Fencing and Security,
• Electrical ,
• Mechanical , including plumbing and structural ,
• Tankage
• Buildings, and
• Painting.
Operations
The facility would require continuous manning for plant operation
and maintenance. A listing of the proposed 26 plant operations staff is
shown in Table 2.3. The plant would normally operate on a three-shift
basis. The bulk of maintenance and fuel handling would be done during
daylight hours. Regular daytime weekday shifts would be manned by the
plant manager, maintenance personnel , clerk, and traffic manager.
Another 20-30 part-time jobs would be needed to provide indirect services
to the plant, i .e. , maintenance, landscaping, etc.
i
The facility would require off-site personnel to chip, collect, and
deliver the biomass and the used lubricant waste products. Work loca-
tions include chipping operations in the field and at other sites with
available raw woody products. Trucking of both biomass and used oil
would also provide employment. It is estimated that jobs for 15 to
2-20
101-46.R4 4/7/89
