AQUIFER PUMPTNG TESTS
Step Drawdown Test- 07 March 2001
Prior to initiation of the test, the depth-to-ground water was measured in the extraction well VE-6,
the three temporary wells designated T1,T2 and T3, and in monitoring well MW3,using a Solinst
water level meter. Pressure transducers were placed in VE-6, T1 and T3. The height of the water
column was measured by the datalogger one-minute time intervals. 'We)I VE-6 is screened from 5
to 25 feet below surface grade (bsg). The after wells are screened from 10 to 20 feet bsg.
The pumping test consisted of extracting ground water from vapor extraction well VE-6 utilizing a
4-inch diameter submersible Grundfos Redi-flo pump. Pumping began at one gallon per minute
(gpm). After 120 minutes, the pumping rate was increased to two gprr>.The pumping rate was again.
increased to 3 gpm after approximately 240 minutes of pumping. Approximately 1,080 gallons of
water were removed from VE-6 during the eight-hour test.
The pump test utilized 7/8-inch diameter, model 3001 Solinst Levelogger pressure transducers that
were deployed in wells T1,T3 and.VE-6. Each pressure transducer was pre-programed prior to the
pumping test to log water levels at one-minute intervals. Copies of pressure transducer water level
data logged from Tl, T3 and VE-6 are in Appendix A.
During the variable rate pumping test (1 to 3 gpm), the maximum ;;round water drawn-down in
extraction well VE-6 was observed to be 6.5 feet after 480 minutes of pumping operation(Appendix
A);maximum.draw-down was observed in wells Tl. (located 5 feet toward the east)at 1.9 feet after
480 minutes of pumping operation(Appendix A); draw-down was observed in well T2(located 15
feet toward the south)at 1.4 feet after 480 minutes(Appendix A);and less than measurable changes
in the water elevation were detected in well MW-3 (located 50 feet toward the west).
Constant Rate Drawdown Test- 12 March 2001
The static pumping test consisted of extracting ground water from well VE-6 at a rate of 3 gpm
utilizing a 4-inch diameter submersible Grundfos Redi-#To pump. Approximately 3,600 gallons of
water were removed from VE-6 during the 12-hour constant rate drawdown test.
The depth-to-ground water was measured in the extraction well VE-6; the three temporary wells
designated Tl,T2 and T3;monitoring well.MW3 and vapor extraction well VW-1,using a Solinst
water level meter. The test utilized 7/8-inch diameter, model 3001 Solinst Levelogger pressure
transducers that were again deployed in wells T1, T3 and VW-1 to continuously record drawdown
Advanced GeoEnvironmentul,Ino.
