0
A maintenance shop is operated on-site to service lifts and machinery used at
Interlake. Solvent stations are maintained to wash various parts as needed. In
1991, .52 tons of solvent waste was hauled off-site by Safety KJeen, 2575
Mercantile Dr., Rancho Cordova, CA. In 1992, .59 tons of solvent was hauled
off-site by Safety Kleen. An aboveground 150 gallon tank is kept in the
maintenance shop to store used oil that is generated from servicing lifts and
machinery. In 1991, 2.8 tons of waste oil was hauled off-site by Evergreen,
6880 Smith Ave., Newark, CA 94560. In 1992, 2.6 tons of waste oil was hauled
off-site by Evergreen.
Before the lifts are serviced in the maintenance shop, they are washed off
above an oil/water separator. The separator accumulates an oil sludge. In
1991, .6 tons of oil sludge was hauled off-site by Evergreen. When necessary,
the antifreeze in the lifts are changed. In 1992, 1.2 tons of waste antifreeze was
hauled off-site by Evergreen.
Used oil filters are generated when the filters are replaced on the lifts. The
filters are drained of free flowing oil, and the drained filters are removed by
Evergreen for purposes of metal reclamation.
At the time of inspection the following violations were noted:
A ; 0
A - A
1 Oil ±
1 A five gallon container storing some type of oily waste did not
have a lid or a label.
2.
