• <br />• <br />0 <br />7.5 SEVERE WEATHER — <br />TORNADO - FLOODING <br />0 <br />Severe thunderstorms, possibly with tornadoes or flooding present the condition which <br />causes greatest concern for sheltering. Most severe weather situations provide some degree <br />of warning or buildup which will allow for necessary preparations to be implemented. <br />In the event of a tornado, severe weather watch or warning, follow the procedure below: <br />All personnel (Office, Shipping, Gate Guard, etc.) having access to a TV, commercial <br />(AM/FM) or NOAA weather alert radio, shall listen for any weather advisories from the <br />local Emergency Alert System. In the event of a weather alert, the Supervisors will be <br />notified and shall follow this Notification procedure. <br />2. TORNADO OR SEVERE WEATHER WATCH: <br />WATCH : Conditions are favorable for theoa ssible development of tornadoes or <br />severe thunderstorms. In the event of a Watch, do the following: <br />a. Post spotters (any employee) at a window/door to observe and report <br />immediate weather changes during a tornado/severe thunderstorm watch. If <br />outdoors, be observant for revolving, funnel -shaped clouds. <br />b. Immediately inform a Supervisor if the weather deteriorates or if a tornado <br />warning is issued. If a tornado is sighted, follow the procedure below. <br />3. TORNADO OR SEVERE WEATHER WARNING: <br />WARNING : A tornado or severe weather is occurring or sighted in the area. <br />a. In the event of a TORNADO: Immediately go to any in -plant phone and dial <br />85. <br />Note: In the event of power failure use the megaphone (found in the Cup <br />Floor Supervisor's office). <br />b. Announce the following: <br />C. <br />1' <br />e. <br />f. <br />Attention! Tornado! Seek Shelter ! <br />All employees shall immediately take shelter in a TORNADO <br />tornado shelter. I SHELTER <br />The concrete block wall restrooms and employee breakrooms are designated <br />as tornado/storm shelters. <br />A sign should be posted outside the restrooms to indicate it is a shelter. <br />If it is possible, initiate emergency shutdown procedures. This should only be <br />done if there is no risk of injury to personnel. <br />Everyone should take protection from being blown away or struck by falling or <br />flying objects. <br />Stay away from windows to avoid flying debris. <br />21 <br />
