ElhCV® Ms. Pamela Lopez March 7, 2000 Page 2 r Destruction of the water supply well will be accomplished by the following procedures: • Electrical power to the pump will be shut off and the pump will be disconnected and removed; • The top five feet of casing will exposed by excavation and cut off; • The SJCEHD will require a video log to confirm the well's construction.,specifications since no records of the well's construction are known; ' I • The well casing may need to be perforated prior to pressure grouting. The video log will be used to determine the need for and the locations of perforations; • Perforation will be completed by running a cutting tool into the well and making cuts in I the casing at specific areas; and I • The well will be pressure grouted from the bottom to the surface. Soil cuttings generated during well destruction activities will be containerized in 55-gallon drums. A composite sample will be collected from the drums for waste characterization. The cost represented in this work order is for disposal as a non-hazardous waste. Reporting ENSR will prepare and submit a report summarizing the results of the well abandonment activities to the SJCEHD. The report will include field documentation, a revised site map, and copies of State Department of Water Resources (DWR) Well Completion Reports. Well Completion Reports will also be submitted to the DWR. COST SUMMARY We propose to provide the outlined environmental services on a time and expense basis in accordance with the. attached cost estimate. The recommended budgets -to complete the scopes of services (discussed above in the well destruction section) are presented below.
