SCOPE OF WORK Based upon the results in the Corrective Action Plan dated 01 June 1999, the PHS-EHD is requiring ground water and soil remediation of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted area at the site Remediation within the petroleum hydrocarbon impacted area at the site will consist of the following tasks • Permitting, planning and pre-field work activities, • Installation of remediation wells, • Installation of underground remediation piping system, • Soil vapor extraction system start-up period, • Monitoring and maintenance, • Progress/confirmation sampling Each of these tasks are discussed below in detail 3 1 PERMITTING, PLANNING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES Applicable and necessary permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD, San Joaquin Valley Air, Pollution Control District(SJVAPCD) and City of Ripon Building Department prior to initiation of the remediation project As required by PHS-EHD permitting, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental Protection Agency, 1985) Prior to digging activities, each proposed digging location will be clearly marked and an utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert 32 INSTALLATION OF REMEDIATION WELLS An SVE system in conjunction with an IAS system is proposed to reduce petroleum hydrocarbon mass from the petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted area at the site In order to maximize the efficiency of the clean-up efforts, a 24-hour operation of the system is planned A typical destruction rate of greater than 95% of hydrocarbon vapors is expected throughout the entire cleanup duration Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
