Mr Michael Infurna
July 21,2006
Page 3
During the AS pilot test the applied pressure and flow rate into MW-1,and water
level and dissolved oxygen readings from surrounding wells were recorded The
AS pilot test was conducted for seven hours after allowing the subsurface
conditions to return to equilibrium overnight following the SVE test
Following the operation of the AS system, the SVE system was started and the
combined AS/SVE system was operated from May 4, 2006 through
May 16,2006 During the combined AS/SVE system test, the SVE vacuum, flow
rate, and influent VOC concentrations were recorded, as well as the AS pressure,
flow rate, and depth to groundwater, dissolved oxygen, and pressure in
surrounding wells
Total VOCs were monitored in the field using a photoionizanon detector (PID)
Flow-rate data for the SVE system was collected using a pitot tube and a
magnehehc differential pressure gauge The air flow rate for the AS system was
regulated using a flow meter
To evaluate the concentration of hydrocarbons within the soil vapor, vapor
samples were collected in 3-titer Tedlar bags or summa canisters from a sample
port located in the piping for the SVE influent These vapor samples were
collected at the following frequencies
• Immediately after startup of the SVE pilot test
• Prior to shutdown of the SVE pilot test
• On Day 6 of the combined AS/SVE pilot test
• On Day 10 of the combined AS/SVE pilot test, prior to system shutdown
The vapor samples were submitted for analysis of VOCs using EPA Method
TO-15 to Air Toxics Inc , an EPA-certified analytical laboratory located in
Folsom,California A chain-of-custody form was used to record possession of the
samples from time of collection to arrival at the laboratory Chain-of-custody
forms and vapor analytical results are included in Attachment C
P\28000\126253-T&I 1ruclarig SVF\Documents\SVE Report aznwdoc
