During the baseline survey, barometric pressure readings and water levels will be monitored <br /> in the pumping and observation wells. Monitoring will be performed using 5 and 10 pounds <br /> per square inch (psi)pressure transducers and Hermit Dataloggers. <br /> 2.3 Task 3 —Step-Discharge Test <br /> A step-discharge test will be conducted to assess the optimum pumping rate for conducting <br /> the constant-discharge pumping test. The step-discharge test will be performed by <br /> incrementally increasing the pumping rate after approximately 60 minutes of pumping. A <br /> maximum of four steps are anticipated. The step-discharge test will be based on the results <br /> of the well development logs. For example, if the development data indicates that the well <br /> may dewater at 8 gallons per minute("gpm"),the step test will be conducted at pumping <br /> rates of 2, 4, 6, and 8 gpm, each for a duration of approximately 60 minutes. Alternatively, if <br /> at 8 gpm, there is little drawdown in the test well during development, the step test may be <br /> conducted at pumping intervals of 10, 20, 30, and 40 gpm. The well development records <br /> will provide preliminary information for sizing the pumping test and determining equipment <br /> needs, such as pump size and water storage capacity. <br /> The step-discharge test will be performed using a submersible pump connected to a flow <br /> meter at the end of the pump discharge line. Water level monitoring will be performed using <br /> pressure transducers and Hermit Data Loggers. A 10-psi transducer will be placed <br /> approximately 2 to 3 feet above the pump intake. Water level measurements in the nearby <br /> monitoring wells will be conducted using 5 or 10-psi transducers. Adjusting the opening of <br /> the ball valve in line with the flow meter shall make changes to the pumping rate. <br /> 2.4 Task 4—Constant-Discharge Pumping Test <br /> The constant-discharge pumping test will be conducted in the proposed aquifer test well for <br /> duration of approximately 24 to 72 hours. The actual duration of the test will be determined <br /> in the field based on the measured draw down in the pumping and observation wells, <br /> discharge rate, and other field observations. <br /> During the test,water levels will be monitored frequently in the pumping well and nearby <br /> shallow aquifer monitoring wells with the use of pressure transducers and Hermit <br /> dataloggers. The data logger will be programmed to collect the following data: <br /> • The first three minutes of the test,water levels will be monitored every 30 seconds <br /> • From 3 to 15 minutes every minute <br /> • From 15 to 60 minutes every 5 minutes <br /> • From 60 to 120 minutes every 10 minutes <br /> • From 2 to 10 hours every 30 minutes <br /> • From 10 to up to 72 hours every 100 minutes <br /> Ripon Farm Services,Inc. 2 of 4 <br /> Aquifer Testing Work Plan <br /> July 2009 <br />
