Frequent measurements are required in the pumping well during the early stages of the test to
define the drawdown curve. In addition to the electronic measurements, water levels will
also be manually monitored periodically(at the end of each of the cycles described during
the electronic data collection)using an electric sounding device.
During the initial hours of the test, discharge will be monitored through the flow meter and
recorded frequently until the discharge rate has stabilized. From there on,the discharge will
be checked at least four times during the test using a 5-gallon bucket and a stopwatch. Test
data will be recorded on field forms.
2.5 Task 5—Recovery Test
Immediately after terminating the constant-discharge pumping test, the post pumping
recovery test will begin. The recovery test will be conducted for approximately 12 hours or
until the well has recovered to within 80 percent of the original drawdown. During the
recovery test, water levels will be monitored in the pumping and observation wells at the
same frequency as the constant discharge test. Completion of the recovery test will mark the
end of the aquifer testing program.
2.6 Task 6—Water Disposal
During the aquifer testing, groundwater will be stored in a Baker Tanks before disposal in
accordance with local, State, and Federal rules and regulations. Disposal will require water
quality monitoring during the test or at the end of the test. A minimum of two samples per
test is anticipated in order to characterize the extracted groundwater before disposal into the
City of Ripon non-potable water conveyance system located adjacent to the Site on Frontage
Road.
3.0 DATA REDUCTION AND ANALYSIS
The aquifer test data will be downloaded electronically and analyzed using the computer
program AQTESOLV. This program provides a graphic display of the data and an on-screen
visual matching of"type curves"to the test data. This procedure allows one to see the
position of the type curves and the estimated aquifer properties throughout the analysis. The
AQTESOLV program also provides the appropriate solutions for analysis.
4.0 REPORTING
The results and analysis of the Aquifer Test Program will be provided in a technical
memorandum. The memorandum will include a discussion of the testing procedures as well
as a display of the tabular data and plots. Assumptions made in utilizing a particular method
of analysis will also be discussed.
Ripon Farm Services,Inc. 3 of 4
Aquifer Testing Work Plan
July 2009
