Obtaining boring permits from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department; 4. Developing and administering contracts for the drilling subcontractor, analytical laboratory, and subsurface utility locator; 5. Implementing a Site-specific Health and Safety Plan; and 6. Maintaining contact with the RWQCB and county and municipal agencies as to drilling schedules and other field activities requiring oversight. 2.2 Task 2—Vertical and Lateral Nitrate Profile Vertical and lateral profiles of the nitrate concentrations in the soil and groundwater on Site will be developed by advancing 2eexploratory borings at the locations shown on Figure 3. The exploratory borings are located near areas previously identified as having elevated nitrate concentrations. The exploratory borings in.clud 4- 0 r R- H/Q6 u, t � 1. Ten exploratory borings to measure depth-discrete nitrate concentrations in surface soils; 2. Seven exploratory borings to measure the depth-discrete nitrate concentrations in surface soils and for the installation of seven shallow groundwater monitoring wells; and 3. Five exploratory borings to measure the depth-discrete nitrate concentrations to a depth of 195 feet below ground surface ("bgs")—the depth of the top of the deeper water bearing unit; and to collect reconnaissance groundwater samples from all water bearing units encountered to a depth of 195 feet bgs. 2.2.1 Shallow Borings The 10 shallow soil borings will be advanced to the soil/water interface of the shallow water bearing unit using direct push drilling technology. The approximate depth of the borings is 25 feet bgs, as estimated from the depth to groundwater measurements taken from adjacent on-Site monitoring wells.
