• Appropriate engineering controls and equipment guards will be installed on tools and equipment. <br /> This includes seat belts& backup warning lights and signals. <br /> • A list of names of personnel who are trained in CPR and first aid shall be available. <br /> • Labels shall be placed on containers of hazardous materials. <br /> • No one will work alone;the "buddy system" shall be implemented for all field work. <br /> • Employees shall be trained to identify effects and symptoms of toxic exposure and report them <br /> immediately. <br /> • Under no circumstances are employees authorized to enter a confined space. <br /> 5.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> The employment of engineering controls is the preferred method of providing personal protection from <br /> hazards identified at this and any site. PPE provides acceptable secondary recourse, but only when <br /> engineering controls fail or cannot adequately eliminate exposure to the hazard. The use of PPE is <br /> intended to provide protection for onsite personnel from chemical, physical, and operational hazards <br /> that cannot be controlled through other safety procedures. <br /> PPE required to be on-hand for each worker during this project will include: <br /> X Hard Hat X Safety Boots- Shoes <br /> X Safety Glasses X Air-Purifying Respirator(Full-Face or Half-Mask) <br /> X Chemical Resistant Safety Boots X Orange Vest <br /> X APR Cartridges (P100) X Disposable inner gloves <br /> (nitrile/latex- for sample handling) <br /> Only ANSI approved PPE and NIOSH certified respirators will be assigned for use. The use <br /> applications for this equipment are summarized in the following matrix.
