RESPONSE TO SPECIFIC EMERGENCIES
SPILL RESPONSE
In the event of a release, employees who have been trained to effectively evaluate and
respond must evaluate the release to determine whether the release is an incidental controlled
or uncontrolled, requiring emergency response.
An incidental release is a release that can be controlled by trained staff at the time of release
and does not present a health or safety hazard.
An uncontrolled release as identified by trained staff, will require that the Emergency
Response Plan be implemented. Trained staff may respond to control the release as directed
by the Spill Response Plan in the Wood Preserving manual. This plan outlines plant response
appropriate for any spill of hazardous materials.
