i
I15 June 2001
AGE-NC Project No 96-0263
28 WELL HEAD SURVEY
IOn 10 April 2001, representatives of AGE surveyed a reference point on the top of ground water
monitoring wells MW9, MW 10 and MWI I at the site to the nearest 0 01-foot relative to ground
' water monitoring well MW2 at 37 18 feet above mean sea Ievel (msl) The results of the casing
elevation survey are contained in Table 1 The surveying field log is presented in Appendix D
30 FINDINGS
fGround water elevation, flow direction and gradient were determined from field data collected on
30 March 2001, the contaminant impact to soil and ground water was assessed from the laboratory
analytical data
31 STRATIGRAPHY
Generally, light brown to brown, moist to saturated, silty clay was encountered in the pilot borings
I at approximately 5 feet, 10 feet and 20 feet bsg Light brown, saturated silty sand was encountered
at 11 feet bsg and dark brown, saturated, poorly graded sand was encountered at 15 feet bsg Lines
of cross section are illustrated on Figure 2 and stratigraphic cross sections are depicted on Figures
' 4and 5
Organic vapor was not detected in the soil samples collected from the monitoring well pilot borings
' PID data is included on the boring logs (Appendix A)
' 3 2 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
' The elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground water
from the surveyed well casing elevations (Table 1) For the March 2001 sampling event, depths to
ground water ranged from 7 01 feet to 8 09 feet below the tops of the well casings Ground water
' elevations at the site ranged from 28 83 feet above mean sea level (msl) in well MW9 to 29 64 feet
above msl in wells MW I and MW 11
I The ground water flow direction was determined by contouring the ground water elevation data The
ground water at the site was inferred to be flowing to the northwest at an average gradient of 0 004
feet/feet or 21 feet per mile The ground water contours are depicted on Figure 3
I
I
I
