State of California The Resources Agency
Memorandum
U L 13 1990
Date
A-38
To Gordon F. Snow, Ph.D.
Assistant Secretary for Resources
The Resources Agency
1416 Ninth Street, Room 1311
Sacramento, CA 95814
rrom Department of Water Resources
>ubjecr : SCH No. 90020113 Claude C. Wood Quarry Excavation
We have reviewed the subject Draft Environmental Impact Report
which was transmitted by the State Clearinghouse Notice of
Completion dated June 6, 1990 and have the following comments and
recommendations:
It is stated in paragraph 1, page 36 that "Groundwater pumping
may draw down local water tables, potentially affecting the
performance of nearby shallow wells. " The EIR should discuss the
number of wells and owners that would be affected by the
drawdown. In addition, the EIR should describe mitigation 1
measures for the drawdown should it occur. A map showing the
locations of the shallow wells would be helpful to those
evaluating the potential effect of the project on the wells.
For further information you may wish to contact Carol Nelson of
my staff at ATSS 473-8890.
Jery Vayder, ief
Ce tra District
SS 485-5631
