hour, every 30 minutes for the next three hours, and hourly for the
remainder of the pumping period.
4. After each test pumping period, a recovery period equal to the pumping
duration shall be allowed before proceeding to the next pumping period.
During recovery periods, water level measurements shall be made with f
the same frequency as those taken during the pumping procedure antil
sufficient data has been collected to extrapolate the full recovery of the
well or until the Engineer requires no further data.
5. At the full completion of the test pumping and recovery periods, the '-
gravel pack level shall be measured and, if necessary, the gravel
envelope shall be refilled.
6. The Contractor shall provide, at his expense, any and all means of
measuring water levels, pumping rates, recovery rates and the gravel
level that allows the Engineer to keep continuously informed on they {c!
progress of development. [[
7. The sand production shall average less than 5 parts per million when
measured at one-minute intervals between 12 and 15 minutes after
beginning of pumping at the design capacity of 2,500 gallons per minute. S J
Sand production shall be measured by a centrifugal sand separator
similar to that described in the Journal of the American Waterworks
Association, Vol. 46, No. 2, February 1954. For purposes of the sand
guarantee, sand production shall be defined as the average
concentration measured at the well's capacity over a 3-minute period
with readings taken at 12, 13, 14 and 15 minutes after pumping has
started.
8. Turbidity shall be measured in NTU as described in Section 214A of ,
Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 18t'
edition 1992. Turbidity analyses shall be arranged for and paid for by
the City.
9. Records: The Contractor shall keep accurate records of the pump test
and furnish copies of all records to the Engineer upon completion of the
testing. The records shall also be available to the Engineer for
inspection at any time during the test. C.
10. The records shall include physical data describing the construction
F ,features such as (but not limited to):
s a. Well depth and diameter.
b. Complete screen description, length and setting.
c. Description of the measuring point.
d. Methods used in measuring water levels.
e. Methods used in measuring pumping rates.
11. The retards shall also include the following g test data:
a. Clock time and elapsed pumping time of each measurement. .
b. Depth to water below the measuring point.
C. Pumping rate at the time of measurement.
f d. Other pertinent comments or conditions that may affect the 1_N
measurements.
rt
Division III-30
