Should the construction work not occur on the specified <br /> day, new notices shall be distributed by the Contractor. <br /> Traffic lane and street closures shall be as directed by the Engineer, and under no <br /> circumstances shall the Contractor close off a street for any period of time without prior <br /> approval from the Engineer. <br /> The full width on the traveled way shall be open for use by public traffic on Saturdays, <br /> Sundays, designated City holidays, after 3:00 p.m, on Fridays, the day preceding <br /> designated legal holidays, and when construction operations are not actively in <br /> progress. <br /> The Contractor shall furnish, install, maintain and remove at his expense all barricades, <br /> signs, lights, or other devices necessary to adequately warn of any obstructions to the <br /> vehicular or pedestrian travel way. Flagmen shall be provided as necessary for the <br /> LO safety of pedestrians and vehicular traffic, and to provide access to property adjacent to <br /> the work. <br /> At the end of each workday the Contractor shall remove all components of the traffic <br /> control system, except portable delineators placed along a pavement elevation <br /> differential, or as required by the Engineer. <br /> Before obstructing any private driveway entrance or City street with equipment or other <br /> barriers, for any prolonged period of time, the Contractor shall notify the known users of <br /> the respective thoroughfare(s) involved and shall provide access for pedestrian traffic to <br /> 4i and from the street. <br /> The fact that rain or other causes may force suspension or delay of the work shall not <br /> La relieve the Contractor of his responsibility for maintaining traffic around the project and <br /> providing local access as specified herein. The Contractor shall at all times keep on the <br /> job such materials and equipment as may be necessary to keep streets and driveways <br /> within the project area open to traffic and in good repair. <br /> Should the Contractor fail, in the opinion of the Engineer, to provide all the materials, <br /> +r work force and equipment necessary to maintain traffic around the work area as set <br /> forth herein, the City, upon the recommendations of the Engineer, may take steps <br /> necessary to suspend the Contract_ The City may then, upon such suspension, cause <br /> +.. such work to be done as may be necessary to maintain traffic, and charge same against <br /> the Contractor and sureties. <br /> w.. The adjustment provisions in Section 4-1.03, "Changes', of the Standard Specifications, <br /> shall not apply to the item of traffic control system. Adjustments in compensation for <br /> traffic control system will be made only for increased or decreased traffic control system <br /> �.. required by changes ordered by the Engineer and will be made on the basis of the cost <br /> of the increased or decreased traffic control necessary. Such adjustment will be made <br /> ' on a force account basis as provided in Section 9-1.03, "Force Account Payment", of the <br /> LW Standard Specifications for increased work, and estimated on the same basis in the <br /> case of decreased work. <br /> r <br /> Division III-4 <br />
