i <br /> Ii <br /> Engineer of any discrepancies found between field conditions and9 rades and notes <br /> shown on the pians. <br /> MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br /> i <br /> Full compensation for conforming to the requirements of this section, not otherwise <br /> provided for, including all the labor, materials, tools, equipment, incidentals; and for <br /> doing all the work involved in the Construction staking necessary for completion of the ' <br /> work, all as specified in the Standard Specifications, these special provisions, and as <br /> directed by the Engineer, shall be considered'as included in the prices paid for the <br /> various contract items of work involved and no additional compensation will be allowed. <br /> SECTION 6 - EARTHWORK: <br /> This work includes performing all excavation, sheeting, shoring, bracing, dewatering, <br /> backfilling of imported material, compacting, grading, removal and disposal of any <br /> unsuitable material required for the installation of the improvements, along with other <br /> items of work that are required by the plans, Standard Specifications, or these special <br /> provisions to be performed, placed, constructed or installed. <br /> Excavation: The Contractor shall perform all the required excavation of the site for <br /> installation of the proposed improvements and all excavation shall conform to applicable j <br /> State and Federal industrial safety requirements, and to the provisions of Section 300, <br /> "Earthwork", of the City's Standard Specification and these Special Provisions. <br /> The known existing buried utilities and pipelines are shown on the Topographic Site <br /> Survey Drawing (attached) in their approximate location. There is no guarantee that all <br /> utilities or obstructions are shown, or that the locations indicated are accurate. The <br /> Contractor shall exercise care in avoiding damage to all utilities, as he will be held <br /> responsible for their repair if damaged. All excavations within one foot (1') of existing <br /> ' utilities shall be done by hand equipment_ The Contractor's attention is directed to <br /> Section 14, "Protection of Existing.Utilities", in these Special Provisions. <br /> Sheeting, Shoring, and Bracing: In advance of excavation of any trench more than five <br /> feet (5) in depth, the Contractor shall submit a detailed plan for the Engineers review <br /> showing the installation and maintenance of the sheeting, shoring, bracing,land sloping <br /> to be made for worker protection that comply fully with all applicable Occupational <br /> Safety and Health laws and guidelines pertaining to excavations. The plan shall be <br /> prepared and signed by a registered civil or structural engineer. <br /> Dewatering:- Groundwater may be encountered during trenching activities in which case <br /> temporary dewatering is required. The Contractor shall provide proper dewatering <br /> required to maintain dry trenches for any pipe laying or related operations. ,Dewatering <br /> shall be performed in accordance with the provisions of Section 306.09 of the City <br /> Standard Specifications and prior to the start of any dewatering work, the Contractor <br /> shall submit his dewatering plan to the Engineer for approval. <br /> The disposal of ground water will be the responsibility of the Contractor. Clean and <br /> uncontaminated ground water from trenches can be disposed or drained to.the City <br /> Division III-6 ' <br />
