Quarterly Monitoring Report- Third Quarter 2015 Page 2
' OAK RIDGE WINERY
WKA No. 6364.08
August 25, 2015
' 3.0 SITE BACKGROUND
' 3.1 Site Location and Background
' The Winery is located at 6100 E. Highway 12, east of Lodi, in San Joaquin County, California.
The Winery's wastewater ponds and land application areas are located on approximately 23
acres that are adjacent to the Mokelumne River and approximately '/2-mile north of the Oak
' Ridge Winery Main Facility(Figure 1).
The Winery opened in 1934, after the repeal of prohibition, under the name East Side Winery
' and was founded as a "winemaking cooperative of local growers." Oak Ridge Winery, LLC took
over ownership of the Winery in 2002.
' 3.2 Site Operation
' The annual processing capacity of the Winery is 20,000 to 24,000 tons of grapes, which
produces 4.2 million gallons of wine (60,000 cases). Future processing capacity is expected to
' fall within this range. Wine production at the facility consists of crushing and de-stemming,
pressing, filtering, fermenting, blending, barreling, and bottling. The primary components of the
winery process wastewater treatment area are shown on the site plan included as Figure 2.
' Several improvements have been made to the winemaking process to minimize the volume of
wastewater and solid waste generated during production as well as techniques to reduce the
' salinity of the wastewater. The distillery was decommissioned prior to 2005. Therefore,
distillery wastewater is no longer a component of the wastewater stream requiring treatment at
the winery.
4.0 MONITORING AND SAMPLING
The groundwater monitoring well network at the Winery consists of four monitoring wells located
' in the vicinity of the winery's wastewater treatment and land application areas (Figure 2). Table
1 presents data from Applied Science and Engineering formerly of Davis, California regarding
the well construction details and surveyed top-of-casing elevations for monitoring wells MW1,
' MW2 and MW3. There are no MW4 well construction details available to WKA.
' The surveyed top-of-casing elevations are based on a horizontal and vertical control survey
conducted by Morrow Surveying, Inc. of West Sacramento, California. The basis of coordinates
are referenced to the California State Plane Zone 3 coordinates from global positioning satellite
' (GPS) observations using University of California Bay Area Deformation CORS station
