4.0 SUMMARY OF PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
The following sections of this workplan describe past investigations conducted on or near the
LNC site at 110 East Turner Road, Lodi.
4.1 Soil Sampling
During October 1988, Blymyer Engineers conducted a limited soil investigation beneath four
areas (Areas A through D, Figure 7) of the LNC property(Blymyer, 1988). Soil samples were
collected from five borings drilled by hand auger to a depth of approximately 9 feet bgs (Figure
7). The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g),
total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d), oil and grease (O&G), and VOCs.
Oil and grease were detected in analytical laboratory reports from soil samples collected from all
areas. No VOCs or petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any of the soil samples.
Selected shallow soil samples from the five soil borings were also analyzed for various metals.
The analysis results indicated detectable concentrations of aluminum, magnesium, and
chromium in Areas A and D.
During July 1992, The Mark Group conducted a limited soil investigation beneath four areas
(Areas A through D) and the concrete tank formerly used to store bunker oil at the LNC property
(Figure 7). A total of 45 soil samples were collected from 16 soil borings drilled by the hollow-
stem auger method(Figure 7). This sample work included drilling an angle boring and sampling
beneath the concrete bunker area.
Area A soil samples reportedly contained no detectable VOCs and low-level concentrations of
TPH-d at one location.
Area B and C soil samples reportedly contained no detectable hydrocarbons or VOCs.
M ain\D:AEnvironmenta1\LN CV\10152007.wpd 15
