ARCAD[S 2010/2011 Annual
' Monitoring Report
Union Pacific Railroad
' Company
Tracy, CA-Maintenance
monitoring wells and piezometers using water monitoring prove or an oil-water Facility
' interface probe.
The groundwater monitoring wells at the site contains dedicated bladder pumps for
well purging and sampling, with the exception of MW-11A and TW-04. The pumps had
' previously been removed from these two wells to facilitate placement of hydrophobic
absorbent socks as part of the now-inactive product recovery program. These wells
were not sampled during the 2010/2011 reporting period because they contained free
' product. Wells with dedicated bladder pumps were sampled following low-flow
sampling procedures.
Groundwater conductivity, pH, and temperature were measured and recorded during
well purging. Samples were collected when the field parameters stabilized. Purge
water was collected in 55-gallon drums and secured in the onsite Engine House. The
' purge water will be transported to an off-site, licensed disposal facility by UPRR's
subcontracted licensed waste transportation company.
Collected groundwater samples were analyzed for total extractable petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TEPH-d)using United States Environmental Protection
Agency(USEPA)Method 80156.
In addition,wells MW-14A, MW-15A, MW-22A, MW-26A, and TW-03 were sampled for
biogeochemical parameters. The samples were collected to further evaluate water
' quality and were analyzed for the following:
Total and dissolved iron and manganese by USEPA Method 6010
' . Anions including sulfate, nitrate, nitrite and chloride by USEPA Method 300
• Nitrogen and ammonia by USEPA Method 350.0
• Sulfide by USEPA Method 376.1
Total Organic Carbon(TOC)and Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) by USEPA
Method 9060
+ Biological Oxygen Demand (BOC)and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)by
' USEPA Method 410.4
Inorganics by USEPA Method SM5210B
' 0 Alkalinity by USEPA Method 310.1 or SM 2320B
Permanent Dissolved Gases(Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Ethane, Ethene,
Methane, Nitrogen, and Oxygen)were analyzed by Microseeps method
AM20GAX, an enhanced version of RSK-175
' fref trecy,remairnfecility_A.,Rp1_426-2011.do Page:217
