An
important consensus reached at the meeting was the need for site specific data in
order to accurately assess the impact, if any, on the ground water at the factory.
As a result of the meeting, the proposed ground water monitoring program for
the site was reviewed by the Regional Board. Spreckels Sugar, in conjunction with
our ground water consultant, has modified the proposed plan to address concerns
raised by the Board during the plan review. some well locations have been changed .
and the current well siting plan is identified on Figure 1, which is included as an
attachment to this letter. The changes are summarized as follows:
• A second monitoring well has been added to the lime pond area to expand
coverage along the northern edge of the ponds.
• One of the monitoring wells at the waste water pond area has been deleted.
• The location of the background monitor well has been moved further east and
slightly north due to the sale of the land on which the original background well
was located.
