KLEINFELDER
Appendix C. The results of the laboratory analysis is discussed in Section 5.2,
Chemical Analytical Results.,
o A 3-foot bentonite plug was placed above the sand pack to provide a seal
f against surface water infiltration. The bentonite was hydrated with City of
1 Tracy supplied water.
o The remaining annular space was filled with cement/bentonite grout to the
surface.
o Each well was secured.inside a locked well cover.
The well construction details are summarized in Table 1, Monitoring Well Construction
Details (Appendix A). The Iithologic logs and drafted diagrams showing well construction
details are contained in Appendix B.
33 SURVEY
A field survey was made on November 17, 1988 by Nolte and Associates of Manteca,
California. The "X", "Y" (Horizontal) and "Z" (Vertical) coordinates for well tap-of-casings
were measured relative to a U.S. Coast and Geodetic benchmark. The "X" and "Y"
coordinates were measured to an accuracy of the nearest 0.001 foot. The "Z" coordinates
were measured to the nearest 0.1 foot. .
3. O
4 MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT AND SAMPLING
On November 21, 1988,'the wells were checked for floating product, sheen, or odor using a
clear acrylic bailer.,,No odor, sheen, or floating product was observed in the monitoring!
wells. The wells were then developed by drawing the sediment from the formation into and
out of the well and setting the filter pack. Because of slow recovery of the ground water
into MW-2, only two well volumes could be purged from that well. Approximate 1.3 well
volumes were purged from MW-1 and approximate 3.3 well volumes were purged from
MW=3. Purged water was containerized in 55-gallon drums.
On November 29, 1988, the monitoring wells were opened and initial depth to water
readings were measured using a Slope Indicator Company electronic water level indicator.
After the depth to water readings were recorded, the wells were purged and sampled.
156-88-2362 5
