File No. 20-3978-0 l.W 12 KLEINFELDER
January 14, 1997
Above Ground Storage Tank Locations Not Included in Sampling
Tank Description Tank Location Recommendation
Oil measuring tanks Liquid sugar storage tank, and If discolored soils or other
electrical power generation evidence of contamination noted
equipment. during demolition of factory
buildings, contact Kleinfelder for
additional consultation.
Former farm tanks Various, undocumented If discolored soils or other
evidence of contamination noted
during demolition of factory
buildings, contact Kleinfelder for
additional consultation.
Grover gasoline Adjacent to Grover truck scale It is Kleinfelder's understanding
convault that this above ground tank is the
owned by Grover, and that any
soils impacted by petroleum fuel
constituents at this location would
be their responsibility.
The oil measuring tanks were excluded from the scope of work because one was located at what
is now a liquid sugar storage tank, and the other was located where electrical power generation
equipment is present. Both these locations are currently inaccessible for sampling. According
to Mr. Jerry Tucker of Spreckels Development Company, the former diesel fuel farm tanks
operated by the feed lot tenants were moved periodically and no accurate records exist of their
locations. Therefore, the farm tanks were excluded from this scope of work.
SCOPE OF WORK
Drilling Permit and Work Plan Submittal
Kleinfelder will collect soil samples from borings advanced by hand auger and truck mounted
drill rig. The San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) requires a workplan and boring permit application for exploratory soil
borings drilled for site assessment purposes. The proposed exploratory borings will require
boring permits, and a workplan will be submitted to the PHS/EHD for review. Kleinfelder will
also prepare a health and safety plan for use in the field. The health and safety plan will be
included as part of the workplan.
20-3978-01.W121207PE024 Page 2 of ©1997, Kleinfelder,Inc.
