Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
•
replacement soil borings were advanced and samples were collected and submitted for VOC
analysis. The replacement borings and soil samples are identified by "R" in the boring name,
e.g., Boring OU2-AO14-S2-R.
3.3 Surveying
Sampling locations were surveyed by Kennedy/Jenks personnel on 17 January 2006 using a
Trimble GPS Pathfinder ProXH system. The Trimble unit provided spatial coordinates in the
State Plane coordinate system with sub-meter accuracy.
to Pro
3.4 Laboratory ram g
Soil and groundwater samples were collected and contained for shipment to the analytical
laboratory as described in Section 5 of the SAP.
Soil and groundwater samples were submitted to Severn-Trent Laboratory in Pleasanton,
California (STL) (State Certification No. 2496) for laboratory analysis by the methods indicated
in Tables 1 and 2 in the RI Work Plan and Addendum. A list of the analytical methods and
detection limits was provided in the QAPP. The analytical data reports are included in
Appendix C.
3.5 Management of Investigation-Derived Residuals
The steel drive casing of the GeoprobeTM system was decontaminated between borings using
non-phosphate soap and potable water. Acetate liners and groundwater sample tubing were
disposed of after one use. Soil cuttings were contained in two DOT-approved 55-gallon drums,
labeled, and stored onsite pending offsite disposal. A small amount of decontamination water
was initially mixed with the soil cuttings and contained in the drums, but most decontamination
water was used together with tap water to mix the grout which was used to backfill the borings.
The drums were placed onsite pending characterization and disposal.
•
DRAFT Phase 1 Remedial Investigation Report Page 18
Former Tracy Railyard, Tracy, California
g:lis-groupladminyob\0510565777.18_uprr109-reportskd rpNext.doc
