06 June 2000 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 97-0343 <br /> Page 3 of 7 <br /> I2 5 MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT <br /> During installation, each well was surged to settle the sand pack On 29 February 2000, the depth <br /> to water was measured in each well, relative to the top of the well casing, using a Solinst water level <br /> meter(Table 2) A stainless steel bailer was then used to surge the well and remove sediment trapped <br /> in the well casing and sand pack Approximately 12 to 14 gallons was water were removed from <br /> each well <br />' 2 6 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES <br /> On 03 March 2000, a Solmst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in the <br /> three wells relative to the tops of the well casings The ground water elevations and gradient were <br /> determined from these data(Table 2) <br /> After recording water level measurements, a two-stage submersible pump was used to purge each <br /> monitoring well of standing water Approximately 12 gallons of water was removed from each well <br /> (approximately 3 well casing volumes) Ground water temperature, pH and conductivity were <br /> measured at regular intervals during purging using a Hydac water analyzer Field sheets and data are <br /> included in Appendix C Purged water was stored on-site in labeled, 55-gallon DOT-approved <br /> drums <br /> 27 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> Water samples were collected from each purged well using new disposable plastic bailers Each <br /> water sample was transferred into 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a <br /> sample preservative and into one-liter amber bottles without added preservative After collection, <br /> the samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of= <br />' custody to Alpha Analytical Laboratories, Inc , and were analyzed for <br /> • TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Methods 5030/8015m, <br />' BTEX in accordance with EPA Method 602/8020, and <br /> • Fuel oxygenates methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), Diisopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl <br /> tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA) <br /> in accordance with EPA Method 8260B <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
