To accomplish these goals the following scope of work is
proposed:
• Abandon groundwater wells 1 and 2 located near the surface impoundments.
• Install one replacement groundwater well for well 1 located outside the future cap.
Collect one soil sample for analysis of total dissolved solids (TDS).
• Install two temporary wells to serve as monitoring points for the aquifer pumping test.
• Survey and develop all three new wells.
• Conduct a 24-hour aquifer pumping test and monitor response in nearby wells.
• Abandon the two temporary wells.
• Prepare a summary report.
The workplan below describes in detail each of the tasks to be completed. All work described
in this workplan will be performed in accordance with RESNA's Quality Assurance/Quality
Control Plan presented in Appendix I and with the Site Safety Plan presented in Appendix II.
WORKPLAN
Task 1 - Permitting and Scheduling
This task includes obtaining the necessary permits for drilling, well installation and well
destruction from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, scheduling field
personnel and equipment, locating underground utilities, and performing any other necessary
field preparation and job startup activities.
Task 2 - Abandon Existing Groundwater Monitoring Wells
As stated in the "Final Closure Plan for Class 11 Surface Impoundments" (RESNA, November
1992), wells 1 and 2 will be abandoned because they are in danger of being damaged. Well
abandonment will be conducted under supervision of a RESNA representative in accordance with
State of California well destruction standards (Department of Water Resources Bulletin 79-90)
after the necessary permits have been obtained.
Abandonment activities include: sounding the depth to bottom of the well to ensure that there
are no obstructions; over drilling the casing and sandpack of the well; and, grouting the boring
with a pressurized tremmie system from the bottom to ground surface.
W P-0893.FNL
