S A N ,;J O A Q U I N Environmental Health Department <br /> v u . ., , AMENDED <br /> 1/6/2020 <br /> Large Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Inspection Report <br /> Facility Name: Facility Address: Date: <br /> PEP BOYS#562 1 1401 S CHEROKEE LN, LODI December 20,2019 <br /> SUMMARY OF VIOLATIONS <br /> (CLASS I,CLASS II,or MINOR-Notice to Comply) <br /> Item# Remarks <br /> 301 CCR 66265.31 Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: Hazardous waste brake lathe shavings were observed on the ground next to the two brake lathes <br /> and the two hazardous waste brake lathe shavings containers, located in the service bay area.The hazardous <br /> waste brake lathe shavings were also observed on the sides of the two brake lathes(see photos IMG 9843-8, <br /> 9854-7). <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:A hazardous waste generator must maintain and operate its facility to minimize the <br /> possibility of a fire,explosion, or any unplanned sudden or non-sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous <br /> waste constituents to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately clean-up the hazardous waste brake lathe shavings from the ground and <br /> from the sides of the brake lathes and place the shavings into the designated hazardous waste containers on site. <br /> Manage the waste according to Title 22 California Code of Regulations for hazardous waste. Submit a statement <br /> and supporting documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department describing the <br /> storage and final disposition of the cleaned up waste. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 303 CCR 66265.33 Failed to maintain all communication or alarm systems, spill control, or decontamination <br /> equipment. <br /> OBSERVATION:The expiration date on the bottle of eye wash solution, observed in the eye wash station located <br /> above a sink in the north-west end of the service bay area,was illegible(see photos IMG 9837-9). <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:All facility communications or alarm systems,fire protection equipment, spill control <br /> equipment,and decontamination equipment,where required,shall be tested and maintained as necessary to <br /> assure its proper operation in time of emergency. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Bring the eye wash station into proper working order by replacing the potentially expired <br /> bottle of eye was solution.
