Approval was obtained on October 14, 1998, prior to initiating field
work. The boring location area was marked in white paint and Underground Service Alert was
notified at least 48 hours prior to drilling activities. For a copy of the boring permit, please refer
to Appendix C.
4.2 DRILLING OF FOUR SOIL BORINGS
On October 19., 20, and 21, 1998, four soil borings were advanced at the site in the vicinity of a
former UST (See Plate 1). The borings were advanced using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped
with 6-inch hollow stens augers. Soil samples were collected at 5 foot intervals beginning at 5
feet for lithologic classification, quantitative field screening and potential chemical analyses.
Lithologic classification was based on the Unified: Soil Classification System (USCS). Field
screening of soil samples were conducted with an organic vapor analyzer (OVA). The borings
were drilled, logged, and sampled following the protocol described in Appendix B.
Boring (B-1) was advanced in the approximate center of the former UST location. Borings 2, 3
and 4 were advanced along the perimeter of the former UST to the south, northeast and north
directions, respectively (See Plate 1). The borings were advanced to total depths ranging from
approximately 3 1 to 56 .feet bgs.
Soil samples were obtained at Live foot intervals in each boring for logging purposes and
potential chemical analysis. Soils were logged in accordance with the protocol in Appendix B.
Soil cuttings generated while drilling were placed on visqueen and stored on site. Water
generated from the drilling and field equipment decontamination was stored in 55 gallon drums
on site.
20-2864-02.E03/2019R(132 Page 6 of 12
Q 1998,Kleinfelder, Inc.
