SECTION 2
WELL SPECIFICATIONS
2 . 0 Conditions
The work to be performed includes the construction, development and
performance testing of two groundwater extraction wells. This will
include the drilling of two pilot coreholes. These wells will be
of filter pack type construction using either reverse circulation
or top drive casing hammer, air rotary method.
The following items of work which support the extraction well
construction program are included in the scope of work to be
performed by the Contractor.
• The drilling contractor shall provide a portable mud pit or a
portable settling pit and water supply pit at each of the well
sites. The volume of the pit shall be determined by the
Contractor.
• Drilling water will be made available to the Contractor from
the J.R. Simplot plant but will need to be trucked to the
actual well site.
• During the construction of extraction wells, the drilling
contractor shall provide the pumping equipment, piping, hose,
fittings, valves and power necessary to discharge the well
development and testing water to a location within 100 feet of
the well site as directed by the supervising geologist.
• A pilot corehole will be drilled for each extraction well by
the use of a mud rotary drilling rig capable of core sample
recovery. Core will be recovered from the entire depth of the
corehole using a 94-millimeter wireline core barrel or
equivalent.
2 . 1 Extraction Well Nominal Specifications
The following nominal well specifications are to be used as a basis
for preparing the individual well lump sum quotation. Schematic
diagrams are provided in Appendix A.
EW-6
• Depth - 210 feet
• Conductor Casing - minimum 16 inch diameter, 20 feet total
length, low-carbon steel (required for reverse rotary drilling
method only)
• Blank Casing - eight inch diameter, . 25 inch wall thickness,
101. 5 feet total length; low-carbon steel, (slot size to be
determined by sieve analysis)
2 - 1
