The San Joaquin County
EHD will require review and approval of the workplan for the proposed scope of work. .
Task 2.0 Fiold Activities
ADVANCEMENT OF PUSH PROBES
Four (4)push probes will be advanced through the project area to assess soli at the subject site.
The pushprobes will be. advanced to depths of approximately 15-25 feet below ground surface
(bgs). If groundwater is encountered at or near the total proposed depth of 20 feet, grab
groundwater samples will be collected.
Kleinfelder will advance one-pushprobe boring in the former location of the UST at a depth of
approximately 15-20 feet. The three remaining pushprobc borings will be advanced in a
triangular pattern around the former UST site at varying depths from 20-25 feet, and radially 10,
15, and 20 fret from the tank location. The three pushprobes will aid in determining both the
vertical and lateral extent of any possible contamination associated with the former UST. The
actual sampling locations will be dependent on access, surface conditions, and potential
interference with subsurface or overhead utilities.
Prior to the advancement of the pushprobes, the first five feet will be hand-augered to assess
potential underground utilities. Pushprobes will be advanced using a pneumatically driven steel
probe. Soil samples will be obtained by inserting a sample barrel, lined with acetate liners, into
the probe. The sample barrel will be lowered to the desired sampling depth and driven into the
soil. The sample tubes will be,removed and scaled with Teflon film and plastic fitting end caps.
Soil samples will be collected continuously during the advancement of the pushprobes at depths
ranging from 5-feet to the proposed maximum depth of 15-25 feet bgs. During the advancement
of the borings, soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals for lithologic classification and
qualitative field screening, with an organic vapor analyzer(OVA). The OVA measures ionizable
compounds in air in parts per million by volume (ppmv). Uthologic classification will be based
on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS).
At this time, we propose to submit three soil samples for quantitative chemical analyses from
each soil probe. Samples will be collected f-om depths of 15 feet and the bottom two samples
from each probe. Actual analysis may vary based on OVA readings and field observations mom
soil samples collected continuously from 5 to 25 feet bgs.
02001pROp.m.\!P$Tp5o343 Du--bu i,?443
amass 2 of E
a 2003 Kleinfeider,lnc.
