Groundwater samples will be collected using a disposable or stainless steel bailer or
by positive displacement pump through polypropylene tubing attached to a stainless steel ball
valve. If turbid groundwater conditions are encountered, a disposable screened PVC casing may
be placed within the pushprobe holes to filter out sediment, as necessary when using the
tubin&W valve methodology. The PVC casing will include a 5 to 10 foot 0.010-0.020-inch slot
screened interval, placed within the water bearing zone, prior to groundwater collection using the
tubing and check valve. The groundwater will be decanted into laboratory supplied bottles
directly from the tubing or disposable/stainless steel bai ler/s.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
After collection, the soil and/or groundwater samples will be labeled, logged on a chain-of-
custody form, and immediately stored in an iced cooler. The samples will be transported under
chain-of-custody control to Kleinfelder's office and then transported by courier in a sealed
container to a State Certified Laboratory to perform the requested analyses.
A minimum of twelve soil samples(three from each of the four probes)and a possible four
groundwater samples will be submitted for the following analyses.
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons(Gasoline Range)[TPH-G]by EPA Method
8015M
• Volatile Organics by EPA Method 8260 including Benzene,Toluene,Ethylbenzene,
Xylenes[BTEX]and 5 Oxygenates
• Total Lead by EPA Methods
Kleinfeldcr's cost estimate is also based on collection of a single groundwater sample at each boring
location. Depending upon subsurface conditions, the vertical extent of contamination may not
extend to groundwater. Based on this finding, a total of five groundwater samples may not need to
be submitted for analyses. However,it may also become necessary to analyze additional samples
at the same rates shown on the attached cost estimate. Ms. Duncan Keir will be notified of any
proposed changes and if approved, the costs will be adjusted accordingly. The samples will be
analyzed on a 10-day working day laboratory turnaround time (TAT), unless a more expedited
laboratory turnaround is requested by the client at an additional charge. Additionally, based an
Kleinfcldcr's findings, additional investigation maybe needed.
Task 3.0 Reporting
Upon completion of the field activities and receipt of the analytical results, a report of findings
for the advancement of the push probes sampling will be vrepared for client and agency review.
The report will include:
• A description of the field activities, observations, and protocols
• Lithologic Logs
02 W!PROP.EiVIST03PA41 December 5,2001
m 2003 Kleinfelder.Inc.
