Violation 103-Submit documentation that demonstrates to employees which hazardous waste category (i.e. <br /> Toxic, Flammable, Alkaline,Acid, Oxidizer, etc.)the following wastes belong to: <br /> a. Seven to eight wax candles, one brand which was called True Living in Vanilla Sugar scent(found in a <br /> Flammable Hazardous Waste tote) <br /> b. An unbranded wax candle (found in a Toxic Hazardous Waste tote) <br /> c. Approximately five individually packaged Bowl Fresh (toilet) Bowl Cleaner and Air Fresheners <br /> 2. Violation 106— <br /> a. Submit a corrective action statement that specifically addresses each of the following <br /> issues/discrepancies observed at the time of inspection: <br /> i. Julie indicated that when the scanner does not specify which HW tote an item belongs in, <br /> employees will read the item's label and ingredients, as well as the Dollar General (DG) HW <br /> guidance poster and documents, which provide product examples and key words for each of the <br /> HW categories, to determine which HW tote an item belongs in (see photos IMG 8049, 8051-7). <br /> When asked what employees do if they are still unsure about which HW tote a waste item <br /> belongs in,Julie stated she will place the item into the Toxic HW tote.Julie did not know who to <br /> call in case she had questions about an item's hazardous waste determination.Additionally,Julie <br /> was not aware of Dollar General's (DG) Respond ticketing system to submit a notification to DG <br /> Corporate regarding the scanning system not providing a HW category for a particular waste <br /> item. <br /> b. Submit proof of completion of 2019 California Environmental Compliance for Sales Associates training <br /> for Andrea Heaton and Tatianna Roark. <br /> c. Submit proof of completion of 2019 California Environmental Compliance for Store Managers training <br /> for John Kendall. <br /> Dollar General#13568: <br /> 1. A Revlon Color Silk permanent hair color kit, which contained a container of ammonia-free colorant, a <br /> container of cream color developer, and a package of after-color conditioner <br /> d. A bag of Kingsford Original Charcoal Briquets <br /> 2. Violation 106— <br /> a. When asked how employees determine which of the differently categorized HW totes a waste <br /> item belongs in,Jackie Nash, Assistant Store Manager, said each item is scanned using a hand- <br /> held scanner, which will sometimes state which HW tote the item belongs in.Jackie indicated <br /> that when the scanner does not specify which HW tote an item belongs in, employees will read <br /> the item's label and ingredients, as well as the PSC HW guidance poster and documents, which <br /> provide product examples and key words for each of the HW categories,to determine which <br /> HW tote an item belongs in. When asked what employees do if they are still unsure about which <br /> HW tote a waste item belongs in,Jackie did not seem aware to call the store maintenance <br /> hotline phone number, listed at the bottom of the PSC HW guidance documents.Additionally, <br /> Jackie and Steve did not seem aware of Dollar General's Respond ticketing system to submit a <br /> notification to DG Corporate regarding the scanning system not providing a HW category for a <br /> particular waste item. <br /> b. Submit proof of completion of 2019 California Environmental Compliance for Sales Associates training <br /> for Karleen Grande, Beny Romero, and Chel Rosales. <br /> 4 <br />
