8 August 2000 • AGE-NC Project No 95-0143 Page 2 of 8 Each preserved sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled container and transported to Curtis and Tompkins, Ltd , a California Department of Health Services (DHS)- certified laboratory Selected samples were analyzed for • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH-g), diesel(TPH--d) and motor oil (TPH-mo) by EPA Method 503018015M, • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020, and • Total lead by EPA Method 6010B Samples collected from soil probe boring 1613-7 were also analyzed by Curtis and Tompkins, Ltd for volatile organic compounds including MTBE by EPA Method 8260B 2 12 Grab Ground Water Sample Collection Grab ground water samples were also collected from the probe borings A temporary, pre-cleaned, one-inch outside diameter, 0 01 inch slotted well screen was placed into soil borings 16B-6 and 16B- 7to a depth of 15 feet bsg and 50 feet bsg,respectively After sample retrieval,the water sampler was . disassembled and cleaned Each ground water sample was extracted by lowering a modified Teflon bailer into the screen section of the temporary wells Samples were collected In to three laboratory- supplied, 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml hydrochloric acid (18%) as sample preservative The labeled vials were placed in a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody to Curtis and Tompkins, Ltd for analysis The samples were analyzed for • TPH-g, TPH-d and TPH-mo by EPA Method 5030/8015M, • BTEX compounds by EPA Method 8021 B, • Volatile organic compounds including MTBE by EPA Method8260B, and • Total lead by EPA Method 6010B 2 1 3 Equipment Decontamination Prior to sample collection, Geoprobe soil sampling equipment was thoroughly rinsed with clean water after washing with a solution of Alconox Geoprobe rods were thoroughly cleaned prior to each soil probe boring advancement • Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
