IV-STORAGE IN CONTAINERS A. WASTE IDENTIFICATION 1. Subject to the terms of this permit, the Permittee may store only those wastes designated in Section V of the Part B Application for storage at Building 804A. [40 CFR 270.32(b) ] 2. The Permittee shall not store at Building 804A those wastes not identified in Section V of the Part B Application. [40 CFR 270.32(b) ] B. CONDITION OF CONTAINERS The Permittee shall comply with 49 CFR 173 Subparts A, B, D, M and 0, as specified in Section VI of the Part B Application, for the types of containers used to store wastes, and in maintaining the condition of the containers. If a container holding hazardous waste is not in good condition (e.g. , severe rusting, apparent structural defects) or if it begins to leak, the Permittee shall transfer the hazardous waste from such container to a container that is in good condition or otherwise manage the waste in compliance with the conditions of this Permit. If waste must be transferred from a damaged container, the Permittee shall select a receiving container which is appropriate for the type of waste being transferred, as specified in Section VI of the Part B Application and as required by 40 CFR 264.171. COMPATIBILITY OF WASTE WITH CONTAINERS The Permittee must use a container made of, or lined with materials which will not react with, and are otherwise compatible with the hazardous waste to be stored, so that the ability of the container to contain the waste is not impaired, as required by 40 CFR 264.172. [40 CFR 264.172] D. MANAGEMENT OF CONTAINERS The Permittee shall comply with the following management practices as required by 40 CFR 264.173: [40 CFR 264.173] 1. A container holding hazardous waste must always be closed during storage, except when it is necessary to add or remove waste. 2. A container holding hazardous waste must not be opened, handled or stored in a manner that may rupture the container or cause it to leak. IV.1
