Receiving Department/Central Storage Area (D-93) SAF 09-65 Handling Hazardous Materials <br /> Daily bucket review Each day, the RTV Associate must review each new waste bucket that has been <br /> procedure placed in the central storage area.In the event of a question or issue with a label <br /> on a bucket,the RTV Associate must contact the MOD who will address the <br /> question or issue. <br /> The daily bucket review procedure is shown below. <br /> Step Action <br /> Daily Bucket Review By RTV Each morning the RTV Associate must inspect <br /> Associate buckets placed in the central storage area for <br /> label completeness.The RTV Associate must <br /> use proper PPE during the Bucket Review <br /> Process. <br /> The MOD must be called if any labels are not <br /> completely filled out. <br /> MOD Handling of The MOD is responsible to validate the labels on <br /> Improperly Labeled Buckets all buckets.The MOD must use proper PPE <br /> during the handling of improperly labeled <br /> bucket process. <br /> There are two scenarios for handling depending <br /> on the type of problem identified with the label. <br /> (1)Missing Label/3E Reference Number Not <br /> Completed on Label <br /> If there is a bucket without a label or the 3E <br /> Reference Number is missing,then the MOD <br /> must open the bucket using appropriate PPE, <br /> and the contents must be identified.3E must be <br /> contacted for guidance,label completion and <br /> bucket segregation requirements. If the MOD is <br /> not comfortable opening the bucket due to <br /> safety concerns,call 3E to ensure waste is <br /> handled as an unknown waste. <br /> (2)Any Other Section of the Label Not <br /> Completed Properly <br /> If any other section of the label is not completed <br /> properly, then the MOD must call 3E to obtain <br /> additional information using the 3E Reference <br /> Number to properly complete the label- <br /> Bucket is NOT required to be opened. <br /> Revised: 12 January 2007 41 <br />
