0 0 <br /> Receiving Department/Central Storage Area (D-93) SAF 09-65 Handling Hazardous Materials <br /> RTV Associate It is the RTV Associate's responsibility to maintain the central storage area.The <br /> responsibilities RTV Associate must do the following: <br /> ■ Conduct daily inspections using the Daily Hazardous Waste Area Inspection <br /> Form. When the RTV Associate is not on duty,the MOD is responsible for the <br /> central storage area.For information on completing the inspection see <br /> "Procedures for Completing Daily Inspections " on page 54. <br /> ■ Order any supplies on eBuy such as buckets with lids,liners,PPE,fire <br /> extinguishers,spill kit contents,etc.,when running low. <br /> ■ Ensure that the HHM Program Binder and HHM Records Binder are current <br /> and on site in the RTV Area. <br /> ■ Ensure that any waste materials are stored in this area and any RTV items are <br /> removed to the RTV cage for processing. <br /> ■ Ensure that the following supplies/equipment are available in or near the <br /> central storage area at all times: <br /> • Spill kit <br /> • Fully charged fire extinguisher within 10 feet of the central storage area <br /> • A telephone (either portable or stationary) <br /> • An up-to-date Emergency Contact List posted on the flammable cabinet <br /> • A copy of the current evacuation map for the area posted on the flammable <br /> cabinet <br /> • A 30-gallon plastic drum for collecting fertilizer sweepings/routine spills <br /> • A 30-gallon plastic drum for collecting waste paint rags <br /> • A 30-gallon plastic drum for collecting spent,non-leaking aerosol cans <br /> • A 15-gallon plastic drum for larger spills that may exceed a bucket by <br /> volume <br /> • A supply of extra buckets, liners,and lids <br /> • Unknown substance tape <br /> • Hazardous/Nonhazardous/Universal Waste labels (for manual <br /> completion) <br /> • Black plastic tub for batteries <br /> • Sticky pouches for holding labels <br /> • Lid opener <br /> • Rubber mallet <br /> • Appropriate PPE,including single-use nitrile gloves for handling waste <br /> buckets,and overshoe booties when handling spills in the central storage <br /> area <br /> • "Hazardous Waste Storage Area" sign(SI-120) posted in the central storage <br /> area <br /> • "No Smoking" sign posted in the central storage area <br /> 42 Revised: 12 January 2007 <br />
