Procedures for Managing Universal Wastes SAF 09-65 Handling Hazardous Materials <br /> Irregular-shaped Below is an example of the box for storing irregular-shaped (such as,circular) <br /> fluorescent bulb box fluorescent bulbs and a Universal Waste label. <br /> example <br /> CuNULATKm SIAM VAYE <br /> Computer monitors, To dispose of computer monitors, television picture tubes,and other electronic <br /> television picture devices an associate must do the following: <br /> tubes, and other <br /> electronic devices ■ Take the computer monitor,television,or electronic device to the Computer <br /> Room. <br /> ■ The Computer Room Associate must call the Help Desk at 800-791-2750 for <br /> specific guidance for disposal of the item. <br /> White goods ■ If white goods such as refrigerators, air conditioners,water coolers,wine <br /> coolers,and other items that contain hazardous fluids cannot be marked <br /> down and sold, they must be managed as a waste.The Store Manager must <br /> ensure that these materials are identified when the waste hauler arrives for a <br /> waste pickup. <br /> Non-automotive There are three different ways for handling a non-automotive battery, <br /> batteries depending on the kind of battery: <br /> ■ Leaking batteries (any kind other than automotive) <br /> ■ Non-rechargeable batteries,such as,household alkaline batteries, Ni-Cd <br /> batteries <br /> ■ Rechargeable Batteries <br /> Leaking, non- To handle a leaking battery,an associate must call a designated HHM associate. <br /> automotive battery A leaking battery must be handled as hazardous waste.
