HHM REFERENCE GUIDE 0 <br /> (For additional information,reference SOP 09-65) <br /> HANDLING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND WASTE AUTOMATION(HHMA): <br /> The handheld device or the desktop terminal application used for generating HHM labels. This application should be your <br /> first resource for spill clean up instructions and generating an HHM label(spill and waste accumulation) <br /> HHM PROCESS: HHMA INSTRUCTION WILL INCLUDE: <br /> ■ When a spill occurs, clear and secure the area a Safety precautions and proper PPE <br /> ■ Call a Designated HHM Associate N Spill clean-up procedures&materials <br /> ■ A Designated HHM Associate will identify 0 Waste label print out <br /> material and use the HHMA System to clean up, HHMA WASTE LABEL WILL INCLUDE: <br /> contain, label, and store waste <br /> ■ Reference number <br /> S Bucket color <br /> HHM CONTAINER <br /> ■ Storage location <br /> ■ 2-Gallon buckets in yellow, red, and black SPILLKIT CONTENTS MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: <br /> (Item#RG502YLW,RG502RED, RG502BLK) <br /> ■ 5-Gallon buckets in yellow, red, and black E50 Gallon Yellow Spill Kit Container(Item#RUB9W27YEL) <br /> (Item#RG5500YLW, RG5500RED,RG5500BLK) • Nitrile gloves(Item#NGL HD) <br /> ■ 14-Gallon overpack poly drum(Item# 1610MB) • Safety glasses <br /> ■ 30-Gallon poly drum(Item# 1601MB) ° Trash bags <br /> ■ 30-Gallon black steel drum(TRC stores only) Absorbent SpillKing(Item#SPILLKING) <br /> ■ 4'Light Bulb Box(Item#Q1352) ° Disposable shoe covers(Item#SC-HD) <br /> ■ 8'Light Bulb Box(Item#Q1350) Mild cleaner such as Simple Green <br /> ■ 24"x24"xl2" Light Bulb Box(Item#R24x24) ■ Broom, dust pan, and plastic shovel <br /> Note: To find these and other items for ordering, go to SPILLKITS should be located in the Receiving Dept. (D24), Outside Garden (D28), TRC (D78) (if <br /> Environmental>>HHM Supplies Ordering Guide applicable) and at the Front End(D90) <br /> CENTRAL STORAGEAREA <br /> • Space designated in the Receiving Dept.exclusively for hazardous waste storage;preferably in a 99-inch bay. <br /> • Must be inspected utilizing the HHM Checklist(3 days/week in Northern&Southern Divisions and 7 days/week in the Western <br /> Division). Must be signed once a week by the SM;MOD must complete the inspection form and enter data into the online system <br /> when RTV associate is not available. <br /> • The flammable waste cabinet in the Central Storage Area does not need to be locked. <br /> • Ensure the area is free of spills or leaks. <br /> For stores without a TRC: <br /> • The waste gasoline gas caddy should be stored in the black zone of the Central Storage Area and must be placed adjacent to the <br /> non-leaking aerosol drums. <br /> • The waste gas caddy must be labeled "Waste Gas Only" and have the appropriate HHMA printed label affixed to it. A <br /> Designated HHM Associate must use the HHMA system for a completed label as soon as waste gas is placed in the caddy. <br /> Signage <br /> • "No Smoking" sign <br /> • Evacuation map—must indicate location of hazardous waste storage areas,spill kits, and fire extinguishers throughout the store <br /> (can be found on the 3E portal) <br /> • Current emergency contact list(posted on the flammable cabinet, by a phone in the receiving area, in the Store Manager's office, <br /> and in the store's phone center) <br /> • "Flammable"warning(factory standard on all flammable cabinets) <br /> • All store use telephones must have the 3E phone sticker prominently displayed. <br /> Operations <br /> • A fire extinguisher must be within 10 ft.of the Central Storage Area. <br /> • All buckets must be lined,labeled and sealed. Ensure liners are tucked into buckets. <br /> • All overpack and accumulation drums must be sealed with metal rings. <br /> • Each bucket must only contain one spill or waste. <br /> • All containers must be listed on the Hazardous Waste Inventory Log. <br /> Universal Waste Boxes <br /> • The label on the box must be completely filled out.Use HHMA system to print a Universal Waste label. <br /> • Use the fluorescent bulb universal waste boxes for whole bulbs and long intact pieces that will not fit in a bucket. <br /> • Universal waste boxes must be stored horizontally above the other containers and must be closed at all times. <br /> • For broken bulbs, smaller mercury-containing bulbs, compact fluorescents, and thermostats, a Designated HHM Associate must <br /> use HHMA system for•clean up instructions and to generate a waste label. <br /> Store Use Flammable Cabinet <br /> • The store use flammable cabinet is stored in the TRC or under cover in Outside Garden. <br /> • If in a customer access area,the store use flammable cabinet must be locked at all times. <br /> Home Depot USA, Inc. - Confidential&Proprietary Information Revised 9/22/2010 <br />
