SPCC PLAN Stockton Center 21
The pumps are also equipped with Emergency Shutdown switches that are located near
the dispenser. These switches enable the fueler to immediately shut off power to the pump
in an emergency situation.
3.4 FACILITY DRAINAGE SPILL PROTECTION (112.8(b))
The floor drains located in the shop area are connected to an Oil Water Separator. In the event of a spill in the shop area where
the spill cannot be contained in the shop drainage system, the spill could be contained in
the oil water separator by blocking off the effluent discharge pipe.
Information provided by Martin-Brower indicated that this oil water separator is cleaned out
every six months.
3.5 55-GALLON DRUM HANDLING AND STORAGE
The potential spill hazard situations with these drums are:
1. Product dispensing or transfer
2. Movement of drums around the shop and facility
3. Drum puncture
4. All liquids should be able to be contained with the use of the facility spill kits. The
only hazardous waste within the shop is the Safety-Kleen parts wash solvent that is stored
within a self-contained 30-gallon steel drum.
Drum Handling
The highest potential for spills with drummed liquids is from the use of improper handling
equipment or attempting to move heavy drums with one man without the proper
-11-
