Therefore, hazardous property
information is not presented for all compounds that are listed.
Hazard Evaluation (Additional details provided as needed)
Toxic Vapors: Yes X No Unknown
Explosion: Yes X No Unknown
Radiation: Yes No X Unknown
OZ Depletion/
Confined Spaces: Yes No X
Buried Utilities: Yes X No
As a precautionary measure, personnel should assume that soils and ground water contain
hazardous materials until further characterized. In order to be protected from chemical hazards
at this site, personnel will:
• Use proper protection equipment indicated in Attachment 1
• Conduct direct reading air monitoring to evaluate respiratory hazards using a PID for
toxic vapors, respecting the recommended action levels for upgrading to higher levels
of protection. Refer to page 16 for action levels.
Open tank excavation pit is considered a confined space. Personnel will not enter the pit.
Tank and associated piping are considered buried utilities.
• All buried utilities will be identified prior to excavation activities
Physical Hazards That May Delay Work at the Site:
Work at this site involves exposure to other hazards in addition to exposure to airborne
chemicals. These hazards include slips, trips, falls, noise, extreme heat and the hazards of
working around heavy equipment.
