Contractor Instructions
November 11, 2007
Page 3 of 6 iota
o Secondaries should be vacuum tested at 20-25 hg with air 50 psi air pressure on
the primary piping.
o Verify communication between termination points of all secondary containment
piping. Air should be free flowing to all piping termination points
o Installer must be onsite during pre testing and available to make necessary
repairs.
o The use of helium just prior to the arrival of our crew is strongly discouraged, as
this may interrupt the flow of testing and require long periods of purging to occur.
Particularly on site- utilizing flexible piping systems. If helium is used, purge
primary and secondaries with clean air or nitrogen when testing has been
completed.
Note about Tanks:
Tanks with dry interstice (non-brine filled interstitial) must have a second access port to
the interstice (see iotaTankDrawing.pdf). The second interstitial tank fitting must be
ordered with the tank and cannot be field installed. In addition the tank annular should
be under vacuum as specified by the tank manufacturer.
