5.2 Install the pressure/vacuum gage per FIGURE 4, page 12.
START-UP:
If all instructions thus far have been followed, the system should start itself
and run autamatically. Proceed with the following steps:
6.1 Beck to see that bootless nozzles are on their hangers, vapor hoses are
connected, and pressure/vacuum valve is closed. Check also to see that
gasoline storage tank fittings (fill caps, dry breaks, drop tubes, etc.)
are seated and sealing.
6.2 At the system control panel, turn the CN/OFF switch M. The laffp labeled
"Power" should illuminate immediately.
WARNING: The processor is automatic. It will cycle its thermal oxidizer ON
if vacuum diminishes in the vapor piping, and OFF if there is
sufficient vacuum. Therefore use caution in looking down the stack
and in working close to the main thermal. oxidizer. It may cue GN
without notice. A mirror is recamuended for looking down the stack.
6.3 If the L%V labeled "Vacuum" is OFF, check to see that turbine is running
and either there is a flame (main or pilot) or spark (one should be able
to hear this without taking off a side ower) - If not, reset thermal
switch inside electrical panel. Turbine and spark should come on.
6.3.1 Within 30 minutes, the lamp labeled "Vacuum" should illuminate.
This indicates that the processor is completely functional and
controlling itself automatically. If so, go to step 7. If the
vacuum lamp does not illuminate within 30 minutes or if your work
schedule is such that waiting 30 minutes is inconvenient continue
with the following steps.
6.4 The turbine in the processor should be running and the ignitor/sensor
probe sparking but the pilot will not be ignited. Failure of the pilot
to ignite is probably because the station's vapor piping is full of air.
To purge this air and replace it with vapor, use 2 short pieces of
insulated electrical wire and jump the circuit from terminal (1) to 191
and (9) to (101 at the terminal strip inside the electrical panel inside
the processor. Note on the schematic of page 17 that a (1) to (9ljuaper
energizes the turbine, ignitor, and pilot solenoid. A (91 to (101 jumper
energizes the main solenoid
As soon as the air is purged froze the vapor piping, the pilot and main
stage will both ignite. As soon as pilot and main ignite, the 2 jur ers
must be removed, and the processor will be in normal automatic made.
6.5 Check setting of pilot adjustment valve to get pilot to have 2 tongues
of flame 1" to 2" long, steady, blue with sane yellow at outer tips. A
good starting point can be reached by turning valve knob counter clock-
wise until it is closed and then opening valve knob with approximately
21* clock-wise.
