Remove outer gloves, discard in "Hot Trash".' <br />b. Remove coveralls, discard in "Hot Trash". <br />c. Remove boot covers, discard in "Hot Trash".' <br />d. Remove gloves, discard in "Hot Trash".' <br />e. Remove respirator, put into decon pail with disinfectant. <br />f. Remove cotton liners, discard in "Hot Trash".' <br />MOTE: "Hot Trash" is a hazardous waste. All "hot trash" is to be put in a DOT container and <br />properly labeled for disposal at a Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility. <br />2. Equipment Decontamination. <br />Equipment will be placed in a bucket of detergent cleaning solution, then rinsed with water. The equipment will <br />then be placed back in its proper staging or storage location. <br />NOTE: Nitrile/Neoprene/PVC gloves will be used when handling equipment in the <br />detergent solution. <br />3. Personnel Decontamination During Medical Emergencies. <br />In the event of personal injury, first-aid personnel must decide if the victim's injuries are potentially the type that <br />would be aggravated by movement. If there is any doubt, or the victim is unconscious and cannot respond, no <br />attempt should be made to move such victims. If the paramedics approve, the victim's protective clothing will be <br />cut off in the contamination reduction zone. If the decision is made not to remove the victim's protective clothing, <br />he will be wrapped in a tarp or similar object to protect the ambulance and crew during transportation. If the victim <br />is contaminated with materials that threaten to cause additional injury or immediate health hazards, the personal <br />protective equipment will be carefully removed and the victim washed appropriately. <br />4. Disposal of Contaminated Equipment. <br />Protective coveralls, gloves and shoe covers will be placed in containers for disposal as Hazardous Waste. <br />Reusable items will be brushed off with a soft brush and cleaned with Industrial Detergent and water. (example: <br />Alconox) <br />5. Storage of Reusable Protective Gear. <br />Reusable safety glasses, hard hats, and safety shoes will be stored in the employee's equipment bags when not in <br />use. <br />6. Laundering Procedures for Uniforms / Work Clothes. <br />Uniforms which are contaminated will be disposed of immediately on-site. Otherwise uniforms are placed in bins <br />at the AES office/warehouse and laundered. <br />7. Employee Responsibilities for Company Issued Respirators (full -face and half -face). <br />a. Each employee is responsible for inspecting his respirator before and after each use. <br />Any damaged or defective equipment is turned into the employee's supervisor or Health <br />and Safety Manager for immediate repair and replacement. <br />18. <br />
