• <br />Site Health and Safety Plan <br />Petroleum Related UST Removal <br />0 <br />b. Respirators shall be inspected by the wearer before and after each use. Respirators shall be <br />decontaminated, daily by washing them in portable five gallon water buckets with an appropriate <br />cleaning solution or by using disinfectant wipes. <br />Disinfectant wipes and respirator cleaning solution are available at the AES office. <br />C. Clean respirators shall be stored in plastic bags with closures. <br />The supervisors or designate, of each job site, shall inspect the respirators periodically, and <br />replace or repair defective respirators. <br />Self -Contained Breathing Apparatus. <br />SCBA's designated for emergency use will be inspected monthly at a minimum. <br />• All SCBA's will be inspected before they leave the warehouse for jobs. It will be the responsibility of <br />the Project Supervisor or Site Safety Manager to ensure that this is done. <br />Inspections will follow the manufacturer's recommendations. <br />• SCBA's will be stored in the manufacturer's case, with covered respirator connections, and mounted <br />in the response vehicle or placed in a non -contaminated area. <br />Inspection records will be kept in the SCBA storage case. <br />0. EMERGENCY RESPONSE AND CONTINGENCY PLAN. <br />1. Communication Procedures. <br />Channel 2 (FM) has been designated as the radio frequency for personnel at the work site. <br />Personnel in the area should remain in constant radio communication or within sight of the project team leader, if <br />possible. Any failure of radio communication requires an evaluation of whether personnel should leave the work <br />zone. A single hom blast is the emergency signal to indicate that all personnel should leave the work zone. <br />The following standard hand signals will be used in case of failure of radio communications: <br />HAND GESTURE I SIGNAL <br />MEANING <br />Hand gripping throat <br />Out of air or can't breathe <br />Grip partner's wrist or both <br />hands around waist <br />Leave area immediately <br />Hands on top of head <br />Need assistance <br />Thumbs up <br />OK or I'm alright <br />Thumbs down <br />No or negative <br />19 <br />
